Brandon Newby - Finding your Way in the Right Career

Brandon has had a few careers so far, much like myself and many others. He's had a few realisations along the way and some negative workplaces have stopped him from fully growing into those realisations and becoming himself.

He likes cars. He worked in car sales for a while. He's great with people but when he didn't feel like he was adding value in the sales process he became uncomfortable.

As a customer, that's exactly what you want in a service professional but it can be hard to live like that as a salesperson when, at the end of the day, your commissions put food on the table and sometimes you just need to push to get deals done. He didn't enjoy it.

I can understand why. I also felt this way at times in commission-only sales. 3 weeks after he left the sales role he was in a better headspace and felt he was ready to come out to his best mate as gay. Fortunately, it was all good and they remain best mates. Had he not been accepted, it would have been another story.

We also discussed modern dating, dating apps, gay stereotypes, learning from TV shows and just how difficult it can be to find someone in a world addicted to image.
